Codified Law

Codified law is statutes and regulations. Codified law can be distinguished from case caw (law created by court opinions) in that it is generally arranged by subject and does not change except by an act of the legislature. In some cases, a jurisdiction's codified law comes from the case law, for example, the California civil code was derived primarily from California case law.
