Gardena Jail - Call 310-217-9632

Location

1718 W. 162nd Street, Gardena, California, 90247. Parking is available at the Gardena Jail and on the street.

Visiting Hours

Until visual monitors are installed, members of the general public visiting an arrestee or inmate at the Gardena Jail must visit with the arrestee/inmate using phones located at the Gardena Jail —that is, no face-to-face visits are allowed and a visitor will not be able to see the arrestee/inmate on a TV screen.

An arrestee/inmate at the Gardena Jail must be incarcerated for at least 24 hours before he will be permitted to have visitors. You may visit an inmate at the Gardena Jail Monday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Because the Gardena Jail's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice, you should always call the Jail before visiting. You can reach an officer at the Gardena Jail at any time by calling 310-217-9632.

Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen are permitted to have face-to-face visits with arrestees/inmates; and, they may visit at any time for as long as they like.

Visiting Procedures

Inmates are permitted only one visit per day for 10-15 minutes. One (1) adult and one (1) child may visit at one time. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

Visitors' Restrictions

Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Gardena Jail. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • California Identification Card
  • Driver's License (any state)
  • U.S. Military Identification
  • Passport/Visa
  • Mexican Consulate Card
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Valid School Identification Card or Birth Certificate (if visitor is a minor).

Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number of reasons.

Telephone Access & Mail

During booking, the person being held in the Gardena Jail, ("the arrestee"), may make up to three (3) free local telephone calls. Once housed, inmates may make unlimited collect calls.

Since arrestees will be housed at the Gardena Jail for no more than 96 hours, not including holidays and weekends, you should not attempt to send mail to an inmate at the Gardena Jail.

Picking Up Personal Property

Any time after arrest, an arrestee/inmate may authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property has been entered into evidence. If the property has been entered into evidence, it will not be available until the criminal case is completed. The person picking up the inmate's personal property must present a valid California ID or an ID from an acceptable source.

To obtain the release of an arrestee's vehicle, contact the arresting agency who will provide you with the name of the towing company that you will need to contact to learn if the vehicle has been impounded or not. If you need to obtain a car key that was in an inmate's possession at the time of arrest, contact the Gardena Jail to obtain a property release form signed by the inmate releasing the key to you.
