Visiting Hours
You may visit an inmate at the El Monte Police Station Jail, which is operated by the City of El Monte, Monday through Sunday from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Because the El Monte Jail's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice, you should always call the Jail before visiting. You can reach an officer at the El Monte Jail at any time by calling 626-580-2113.
Visiting Procedures
Inmates are permitted only one visit per day for 15 minutes. Up to two (2) adults may visit at one time. A child may not be counted as an adult visitor. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen may visit at any time for as long as they like.
Visitors' Restrictions
Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Jail. A visitor cannot be on probation or parole. An alleged victim of domestic violence or child endangerment cannot visit the perpetrator of the alleged crime that the victim initially claims to have suffered. Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number of reasons.
Arrestees' Telephone Access & Mail
During booking, the person being held in the El Monte Jail, ("the arrestee"), may make 15 minutes of unlimited free telephone calls. After which, all subsequent calls must be collect calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in messages. Since arrestees will be housed at the El Monte Jail for no more than 48 hours, you should not attempt to send mail to an inmate at the El Monte Jail.
Personal Property
Any time after arrest, an arrestee/inmate may authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property has been entered into evidence. If property has been entered as evidence, it will not be available for release until after the criminal case is concluded.
