District Court

A district court is a trial court that has jurisdiction within its judicial district. There are district courts for both state and federal districts. In the federal court system, the district court is the trial court that serves a particular federal judicial district. For example the United States District Court for the Central District of California is the court in which Los Angeles County federal cases are heard.
