The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department provides law enforcement
services to the City of Palmdale by contract. Located in the center of
north Los Angeles County, the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail temporarily
houses both male and female arrestees and trustee inmate workers (inmates
who are serving out their sentences at the Jail).

The Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail ("Jail") may hold an arrestee
up to 96 hours, if the arrest falls on a holiday and/or weekend, before
an arrestee must appear in court. You may visit a non-trustee inmate worker
at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail Monday through Sunday from 12:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m. You may visit a trustee inmate worker on Saturday, Sunday
and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail has a stated policy regarding inmate
visitation which may vary depending upon the activity occurring at the
Jail when you plan to visit. Therefore, you should always contact the
Jail before visiting.
Non-trustee inmate workers are permitted one 15 minute visit per day. Although
all inmates are limited to two (2) visitors during a visitation, all visits
with non-trustee inmate workers are by video phone. Parents are urged
to use their discretion when bringing a child to visit an inmate at the
Jail. A child will be counted as a visitor unless the child can be seated
on a lap. School age children, like adults, should be prepared to produce
a valid photo ID.
While attorneys and bails bondsmen may visit an inmate at the Jail any
time for as long as they like, they should be prepared to present a valid
photo ID, a California Bar card, if applicable, or proof that they are
authorized to do what they claim to do. Regular visiting hours apply to
members of the clergy.

Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Palmdale
Sheriff Station Jail. Acceptable forms of ID include:
- California Identification Card
- Driver's License (any state)
- U.S. Military Identification
- Mexican Consulate Card
- Permanent Resident Card
- Valid School Identification Card or Birth Certificate (if visitor is a minor).
Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number
of reasons. Persons on probation and/or parole should contact the Palmdale
Sheriff Station Captain at 661-272-2400 to request permission to visit
an inmate at the Jail. Persons with outstanding warrants should not visit
the Jail as they may be arrested.
Telephone Access & Mail
During booking, the person being held at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail,
("the arrestee"), may make at least three (3) free long distance
or local telephone calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in
messages, but once housed, inmates may make unlimited collect telephone
calls. Since arrestees will not be housed for more than 48 hours, excluding
holidays and weekends, at the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail, you should
avoid sending a non-trustee inmate worker mail at the Jail. However, mail
for a trustee inmate worker may be sent to the following address:

If you are concerned about property in the possession of an arrestee when
he or she was taken to the Palmdale Sheriff Station Jail, you should contact
the Jail at 661-272-2499 to arrange the release of the arrestee/inmate's
personal property. At any time after an arrest, an arrestee/inmate may
authorize the release of his personal property to anyone unless that property
has been entered into evidence. If the property has been entered into
evidence, it will not be available until the criminal case is completed.
