Visiting Hours

You may visit an inmate at the West Hollywood Jail, which is operated by the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (the "West Hollywood Jail" or the "Jail") Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Los Angeles Sheriff's Department provides police protection for the City of West Hollywood. The West Hollywood Jail generally books arrestees from the City of West Hollywood and the unincorporated Universal City Walk area. Calls made to the West Hollywood jail are actually made to the West Hollywood Sheriff's Station. Please note that the Jail's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice. Therefore, you should always call the Jail at 310-855-8850 when planning a visit.

Visiting Procedures

Generally, an inmate may receive one 15 minute visit per day every day of the week, but the amount of time given for a visit varies depending on whether or not the Jail is busy. During each permitted visit, an inmate may have one adult and one child as a visitor. Visitors under the age of 18 (minors) must be accompanied by an adult and have an ID. Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen may visit at any time for as long as they like.

Visitors' Restrictions

Only visitors with one of the following valid forms of ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Jail:

  • California Identification Card
  • Driver's License (any state)
  • U.S. Military Identification
  • Passport/Visa
  • Mexican Consulate Card
  • Permanent Resident Card
  • Alien Registration Card
  • Valid School Identification Card or Birth Certificate (if visitor is a minor).

Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number of reasons. Visitors with outstanding warrants, traffic or parking tickets, ex-felons, persons on probation and persons formerly incarcerated in State prison should call before visiting the Jail.

All visitors and all personal property brought into the Jail may be searched. Visitors in possession of weapons, illegal drugs or contraband may be arrested. Visitors should call in advance to see whether they can bring personal items, such as purses, cell phones, back packs and briefcases, into the visiting area of the Jail.

Telephone Access & Mail

During booking, the person being held in jail, (the "arrestee"), may not be allowed to make telephone calls. Once booked, an arrestee may make unlimited collect telephone calls from the Jail if the officer in charge allows. Because most inmates will be held at the West Hollywood Jail for no more than 48 hours, inmates should not be sent mail.
