Visiting Hours

You may visit an inmate at the Torrance Police Department Jail, one of the largest jails in Los Angeles County, Monday through Sunday from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The Torrance Police Department Jail, ("the Jail"), is operated by the City of Torrance, the fourth largest municipality in the County of Los Angeles. Once they begin serving their sentences, participants in the Pay to Stay Program at the Torrance Police Department Jail may have an unlimited number of visitors Monday through Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Because the Torrance Police Department Jail's visiting hours and roster of inmates who are eligible for visits vary and are subject to change without notice, you should always call the Jail before visiting. You can reach an officer at the Torrance Police Department Jail at any time by calling 310-618-5631. Attorneys, clergymen and bail bondsmen may visit at any time for as long as they like.

Visiting Procedures

Inmates are allowed to have one 15 minute visit per day. If the Jail is not busy, officers may extend the time allowed for visits to 30 minutes. Only two (2) persons may visit an inmate at one time. Children may visit inmates. All minors must be accompanied by an adult. A minor will be counted as a visitor.

Visitors' Restrictions

Only visitors with a valid ID will be allowed to visit inmates at the Torrance Police Department Jail. Officers at the Jail may deny visitation rights to anyone for any number of reasons. Persons on probation and/or parole are not allowed to visit the Torrance Police Department Jail unless they are visiting an inmate who is an immediate family member.

Telephone Access & Mail

During booking, the person being held in the Torrance Police Department Jail, ("the arrestee"), may make three free telephone calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in messages, but may make unlimited collect calls once housed. Participants in the Pay to Stay Program at the Torrance Police Department Jail may make unlimited free calls once they begin serving their sentences.

Unless the arrestee/inmate is serving out his sentence at the Torrance Police Department Jail, he will be housed at the Torrance Police Department Jail for no more than 48 hours, excluding holidays and weekends. You may send mail addressed to an inmate at the Jail to:
