During booking, the person being held in the Los Angeles Pitchess Detention Center, North Facility, ("the arrestee"), may make three free telephone calls. Arrestees/Inmates may not receive calls or phoned-in messages, but may make unlimited collect calls once housed.

Location

The Los Angeles Pitchess Detention Center, North Facility, operated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, is a maximum security complex capable of housing 1500 pre-sentenced and sentenced male inmates.

Visiting Hours

Visiting hours are between 8:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. on Saturdays and Sundays. Visitations are permitted on the following holidays even if they fall during the week: New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. On holidays, visitations may be extended by 30 minutes.

Attorneys may visit the Los Angeles Pitchess Detention Center, North Facility, Monday through Friday, 10:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Bail bondsmen, attorneys, and clergy who must arrange visits may do so by contacting the Watch Commander at (661) 295-8805.

Prior to the visit, visitors must fill out a visitation request with their name, the name of the inmate, and the inmate’s booking number.

Parking is available in the Dr. Elmer T. Jafee Visiting Center lot, which connects visitors to the facility via a shuttle bus. Visits are on a first come first serve basis, so plan on arriving at the Facility at least an hour or more in advance of your desired visitation time. Visitors should expect to spend at least four hours at the Facility.

Visitors must park in Dr. Elmer T. Jafee Visiting Center's parking lot and complete a "request for visit" form that contains their name, the inmate's name and booking number. Visitors then take a shuttle bus to the Facility. A visitor should plan on spending at least four (4) hours at the Facility.

Visiting Procedures

Inmates at the East Facility can receive up to three visitors per visit (infants and toddlers may not count as a visitor). Visits are limited to two 30-minute sessions each weekend (visits may not be combined). Visitors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian unless an inmate makes a special request and the request is approved. Only minors over the age of 12 can be approved for an unaccompanied visit.

Visitor Restrictions

If you wish to visit an inmate at the North Facility, you will be required to present valid identification. Officers may deny visitation rights to anyone at any time and for a variety of reasons. Those with unpaid traffic or parking tickets, or who have an outstanding warrant, should avoid visiting the facility, as they may be arrested.

If you formerly served time in state prison, are an ex-felon, or are currently on probation, you will need to obtain permission to visit an inmate. You may apply for approval through the Watch Commander.
