Dynamite Charge

A Dynamite charge is a supplemental jury instruction given by the judge encouraging a dead-locked jury, after prolonged deliberations, to reach a verdict. Other terms for this instruction include: “Dynamite Instruction,” “Shotgun Instruction,” “Allen Charge” and “Third Degree Instruction.”
