Criminal Trial

A Trial is a procedure in court in which evidence is presented under the supervision of a judge and factual issues are decided. A Criminal Trial is a trial in which the state or the federal government prosecutes an individual who has violated a state or federal criminal statute. A criminal trial is different than a civil trial in many ways. Unlike civil trials, in a Criminal Trial, the defendant has a right to a court-appointed attorney, also known as a “Public Defender.”
