Court Clerk

The court clerk is the court official who helps a judge with the administrative tasks associated with running a courtroom. Depending on the court, a court clerk's job might include: filling out verdict forms, swearing in witnesses, retrieving files for the judge and maintaining the judge's calendar. A court clerk should not be confused with a law clerk, who is a lawyer that assists the federal and appellate court judges with legal research and writing opinions.
