Conditional Purpose

Conditional purpose may be a defense to a crime if the conditions make committing the crime impossible. For example, if someone says I will steal my neighbor's new car if it is there; but it turns out that the neighbor's car is not there and in fact that the neighbor doesn't even have a car, the defendant could put forth a conditional purpose defense.
