Case

1. A case is a proceeding, action, controversy, or suit at law or in equity filed with a court. 2. Case is also a slang term for examining a crime location (house, bank, store, etc.) during the planning stage of a burglary or robbery. For example, prior to a bank robbery, the suspects would case the bank to determine whether there were alarms.
