Battery
Battery occurs when one person physically hurts or offensively touches another person. For example, punching someone in the face is battery. Battery is usually charged as a misdemeanor, but can become a felony if the intention to injure or actual injury is serious (e.g., punching someone in the face repeatedly) or causes great bodily injury (GBI).
