Asset Forfeiture

Asset Forfeiture is the State or Federal Government's confiscation of a defendant's assets that have been purchased with the proceeds from a crime or that have been used in a crime. For example, if Frank has a successful drug trafficking business, but then gets arrested and convicted, through Asset Forfeiture, the State would be able to permanently remove any of his property that could be traced to the money/property he derived from the trafficking.
